It was time to say goodbye to our Innsbruck campsite and head up into the clouds!
Today’s update comes from Team Orange, who guided us up to the heights of Kühtai for a stay in a traditional mountain hut and a breathtaking night hike, it was a day to remember.
A “Leisurely” Start
In the world of international trips, a 7:30am wake-up call is a rare luxury!
“Even though we’re leaving Innsbruck, today was actually our latest start at 7:30 and we all got up fairly leisurely. Thankfully, this morning was the one time it didn’t rain after the thunderstorms start. We packed up our tents and were gone by 10:30.”
Moving Up in the World
The team hopped on a bus to Innsbruck for a quick lunch and a look around, before catching another bus up to Kühtai to spend the night in the Dortmunder Hütte.
“We arrived to our most fancy hostel: a mountain hut 2000m above sea level. The altitude was very welcomed with the coldness that comes with it compared to our previous days.”
The Crocs vs. The Dragons 🐊🐉
Once settled into the cooler mountain air, it was time for some friendly (or highly competitive) patrol rivalry.
“We went for a walk around and found a football pitch and even with a PSG academy player on their side, the Dragons got humbled as they lost 0-6 to the Crocs due to Owen’s inspirational talk.”
Meanwhile, other members of the team decided to take in the local scenery at a faster pace, which ended exactly how you would expect in the mountains.
“While this was happening, Liam, Will and Louis went on an intrepid adventure as they connected with nature exploring the natural landscape on a run. Everyone who went out got drenched and were welcomed back to the hostel for a 3 course meal of hot soup and schnitzel and a banana delicacy.”
Summiting Under the Stars
To cap off an incredible day, the group decided to push themselves with a late-night ascent.
“After, some of the group went for a very adventurous night hike. It started with a heavy incline which didn’t fill us with confidence, however after it was jagged rocks which helped us even less. Eventually, we got to the summit of 2,398 metres.”
All the jagged rocks and heavy inclines immediately became worth it once they reached the top.
“As we went down it got dark but we were very lucky it did as we were able to see to a full star sky with the milkyway visible and more. We made our way down and went to bed after a long day, ready for the jamboree tomorrow.”
