Mountain Hut Wake-ups, Giant Pretzels, and Hello Zellhof!

It was time to descend from the clouds and head to our final campsite of the expedition as Team Yellow takes us from our cosy mountain hut in Kühtai all the way to the international Scout camp at Zellhof, near Salzburg.

Cake for Breakfast and Giant Pretzels

After a chilly but spectacular night up at 2000m, the team had a very comfortable start to the day.

“We woke up in a high place, with cosy blankets and pillows and some lovely cake for breakfast. We then left our lovely mountain hut.”

The journey to Zellhof involved a bit of a transport marathon (a bus to Innsbruck station, a train to Salzburg, and a final bus to camp), but the Explorers kept their energy up with some local Austrian snacks.

“A bus, a train and another bus got us to zelhof – along with pizza pretzels the size of our heads and other such snacks.”

Making a Splash at Zellhof

Upon arriving at Pfadfinderdorf Zellhof, the team immediately started mingling and taking advantage of the amazing on-site facilities.

“At Zellhof we met some other English explorers, as well as German and Irish people. We had a whale of a time in the lake on site, remembering we could only ‘Paddle’ and not swim, and also trying our best to keep Graeme dry.”

We can neither confirm nor deny if Graeme actually managed to stay dry!

International Scouting

The absolute best part of any international Scout trip is the people you meet along the way.

“We spent the evening socialising and making new friends and connections before midnight.”

The group is now settled in at Zellhof for the next three nights! Keep checking the Trip Hub for more updates as they enjoy the campsite
