Castle Breakfasts, Packed Buses, and Pitching Tents in Innsbruck
Team Yellows’ Blog: After surviving the extreme heat in Nuremberg, it was time to leave Germany behind and head into the Austrian Alps!
The Breakfast of Champions
Waking up in a historical Nuremberg castle is quite the experience.
“We woke up in a castle and had a breakfast of cheese, bread and fruit but no meat this time. Second breakfast was had in the train station with pretzels and energy drinks (feast of champions).”
Munich to Innsbruck: Beating the Heat
The group caught their first train to Munich, though it seems the shopping wasn’t quite what they hoped for.
“A train to Munich yielded no football shirts so we forlornly continued on to Innsbruck. Red warning temperatures meant original plans to walk and have lunch in the park had to be abandoned.”
With the weather working against them, they made the smart choice to adapt the plan and head straight for the campsite. But getting there wasn’t entirely smooth sailing!
Left Behind & Pitching Up
“We packed on the bus to the campsite like sardines and ended up abandoning 6 people (including one leader) to wait for the next one.”
We’re happy to report that the stranded six eventually made it to the campsite! Once reunited, it was time to set up our home for the next three nights.
“We pitched up for the first time on the trip and an elite scout squad was sent back to gather supplies in town. Getting back, PLs cooked up some splendid pesto pasta as others were active on the football pitch.”
