The bags are packed, the neckerchiefs are on, and the adventure has officially begun!
27 of our Altrincham Explorers (Dragons & Crocs) and Leaders have officially started their Summer 2026 Interrail Expedition to the Alps! Our first stop is Brussels, Belgium, before we head onward through Germany and Austria for some incredible alpine adventures.

Team Pink’s Travel Log
Today’s update comes direct from Team Pink, who guided us through early starts, minor hiccups, and a birthday in Brussels!
“We started the day at 7:30, setting off from Stockport. After just 4 hours of sleep for some, we embarked on the direct train to Euston. Then, after a quick sightseeing walk taking in some beautiful fountains and the famous Platform 9 ¾, we headed towards the International Hall. A rapid dash towards some ‘fast-food enterprises’ was made before checking in for the Eurostar.”

The Great Luggage Panic
True to any great scout adventure, we had a couple of momentary panics before even leaving the UK:
- The Phone: We collectively realised a phone had been misplaced. (Quickly recovered!)
- The Rucksack: While in the waiting room, a massive 75L bag briefly went missing. (Also found!)
Despite a slight train delay, we successfully boarded the Eurostar and whizzed our way to Belgium.

Touchdown in Belgium
“Upon arrival in Brussels, we quickly made our way towards the tram, which took us to within walking distance of our destination. There, we experienced the true reality of Brussels’ streets.”
The day ended on a massive high with a well-earned dinner of spaghetti bolognese, an Oreo doughnut, and a brilliant birthday celebration for one of our Explorers! 🍩🥳
And that is how we got here.
