Bike Rides, Fresh Farm Produce, and Scout “Speed Dating”

Today’s update comes from the Green Team, who took full advantage of the relaxed Sunday pace and amazing facilities at Zellhof Scout Camp.

Groceries & Farm Fresh Produce

With no trains to catch or mountains to summit, the Explorers got to enjoy a proper weekend sleep-in before heading out to explore the local area.

“Today we had a leisurely morning as some rode rented bikes to a nearby town to buy groceries.”

Alongside their grocery run, the team also discovered that the neighbouring farm had cows and was stocked with incredible fresh milk, butter, and eggs!

Cooling Off in 31°C Heat

With the Austrian summer weather hitting a scorching 31 degrees, the campsite lake quickly became the main attraction for the afternoon.

“Once back we all went to the lake next to the campsite and spent the rest of the morning paddling. Lunch was sandwiches with ham, cheese and pickles, then we again cooled off in the lake by swimming while others played another game of football.”

Nothing says Sunday on a Scout camp quite like a makeshift football match in the sun with sandwiches for lunch!

Steak Dinners and Speed Dating

The catering on this expedition has been pretty impressive, but tonight’s menu definitely stole the show.

“Then at dinner we were served steak, mash potatoes and green veggies.”

After a hearty meal, it was time to dive back into the international Scouting spirit. With so many different groups staying at Zellhof, the Explorers found a brilliant way to break the ice!

“In the evening we experienced some ‘speed dating’ with the other scouts and explorers present at the camp to socialise until we all went to sleep.”

Keep an eye on the Trip Hub as the team has one more full day of activities in the Salzburg area tomorrow.
